What Is Cryotherapy?

How Long Are CryoPen Treatments?

The duration of your Cryotherapy treatment will depend on the surface area and thickness of the tissue being treated. The penetration rate of freezing with the CryoPen is approximately 1mm per 5 seconds, with a maximum freezing depth of 3 to 6mm depending on the used applicator. During a consultation, our expert practitioners will assess the area being treated and will provide a clinical evaluation after which they will let you know how long the Cryotherapy treatment should take. Typically, the operator will choose an application time from 1 to 30 seconds. Therefore, Cryotherapy treatments with the CryoPen are both fast and effective.

Are Cryotherapy Treatments Painful?

During your Cryotherapy treatment, you will feel a sensation similar to a ballpoint pen being pushed onto the skin when the nitrous oxide reaches the bottom of the lesion. After the treatment, you may feel a little stinging for a few minutes. Typically, the treatment is relatively painless but on occasion a blister might form and persist for a few hours. How Many Cryotherapy Treatments Will I Need?

Usually, clients will only need one Cryotherapy treatment to target the problem area. We then recommend that you book in for a follow up visit after 2-4 weeks to confirm that all pathological tissue has disappeared. During that follow up visit, we may recommend another treatment to fully eradicate any remaining tissue if needed. The end result will be that you have gorgeous, flawless skin!
